I’d like to take a moment, so sit right there. I’ll tell you all about how… we adopted Buster.
For months us Crowders have been wanting to add another puppy to our family. I love Indy SO much. I just feel so bad for him when we’re at work. 8 hours is a long time to be by yourself. I felt bad because I could tell he was lonely during the day. Everyone says dogs do better in 2’s. Indy needed someone to manage mischief with. I am a firm opposer of only children.
Aaron is good at looking up dogs online. But none of them ever seemed “right.” On top of it, I have wicked bad dog allergies. So we are extremely limited in the type of breed we can have. Saturday morning I had a hefty to-do list. Aaron happened to find a Maltese (hypo-allergenic) puppy on pet-finder. We decided to take a look while we were out and about.
We looked at said puppy, and he was cute, but extremely high strung. Kind of like a small child after drinking a Rock Star. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have TWO crazy dogs. While we were waiting around at the shelter, one of the ladies was bringing another puppy back to his cage. I knew he was also a Maltese mixed with something. We asked if he had been adopted, and she said, “No, he was actually just returned.” We asked why, and she didn’t really know. She guessed it had to do with allergies. But I don’t think that’s why. Malteses are hypo-allergenic.
While we were outside he was so calm. Didn’t bark at all. Very cuddly. A pure sweetheart. We knew he was the one to adopt. We brought Buster home to Indy. Indy was SO excited to have a friend to play with. Indy wants to play 24-7. They guessed that Buster was about 3. He does not love to play 24-7. They are learning to live together. But so far it’s been good. Buster is ridiculously calm. We say he is our closet weed smoker.
I can’t fathom why someone was RETURNING Buster. He is a heart-melter. I have never met a more chill and loving dog. Indy is a good brother. He makes sure Buster eats first. He corners him by the food and won’t let him leave until he has stuffed his face good and full. If that isn’t brotherly love, I don’t know what is.
After spending a week together, they can’t stand to be apart. They are like two old souls. If ever we put one outside, they both pine until they are in the same room again. BFF’s, partners in crime, bro’s before hoe’s, a perfect harmony.
